Well: Without a doubt the best thing is the location above the marina and views from the wide terraces over the bay of Palermo. It is a good hotel with all the attention that you would expect from a hotel of this category, even if you feel a bit transported to the past. Maybe that's what you're looking for, a few nods to the 21st century wouldn't be out of place. Good restaurant and bar. Attention from the right front desk. Correct services. room we got was newly restored and comfortable. Great bed. bathroom's a little small, fine. Wifi good.
Improvable: Attention! at the distances of this huge hotel. We hired two rooms, one in the annex and one in the main building. first one is renovated and modern, at 250 mts from the service area. second one seemed to be from the 19th century, 180mts from the services, in a wing of the pral building. Super wide, super high, comfortable bed, plugs with thieves, because they have not renewed anything. Overwhelming fabric lining the huge walls. If you are not afraid of the ghosts of the many kings and entourages that have passed through there, go ahead. Anyway, classic that should look to the future.

Grand Hotel Villa Igiea is a home away from home and set amongst stunning grounds. It has a lot of history on it and is a most comfortable stay when travelling. They have a stunning breakfast area, it was so nice to have a cappucinno overlooking the bay. Service was excellent! Special thanks to Ignazio on the front desk for his efficiency and helping us organise things when in Palermo.
Lack of free WiFi is one thing that could be improved on. They also have a lovely bar and pool area that close at 6:30 and 7:30pm respectively which is a bit early in summer time especially if you've been out all day and want to have a late dip in the pool late at night. This isn't a negative comment at all but if you are interested in staying here then the average age of the hotel guests is 50+ and families with children. Being 30somethings we did feel slightly young but for a one night stay it wasn't a problem. The hotel is ideal for couples on holidays looking for a lovely place to stay, it would be a lovely place to propose!

The Hilton Villa Igea is a luxury hotel, situated in an old villa, which is comparable to a castle. Beautifully situated at the port of pleasure boats and sea. Very nice room with all required services and a view on the port and the sea. Also the shuttle service to downtown is well appreciated.
The only negative element is the restaurant : promoted as a 'gourmet' restaurant', we were disappointed by the quality of food (in comparison to the quality of food that we received in other Sicilian restaurants) : most expensive, but the least delicious.

I visited this place with my son and everything was fantastic, from its central location to the delightful poolside restaurant.

The place and the old building
The quality of the room was poor (too little, air conditioning not working...)

We had a quiet room with a sea view after requesting a change from a very noisy room at the front of the Hotel. We paid extra for this change. The outside garden setting and pool area were scenic and peaceful. Breakfast was enjoyable, especially sitting outside and staff were professional and attentive. Parking was provided on site which meant our rental car was secure from theft or damage.
We were not prepared to pay for WiFi, as we did not feel this should be an extra cost on top of the high room prices. Restaurant was also quite expensive, but there were few other eating places near the hotel. Carpets were stained in both the rooms we used, although daily cleaning was regular and efficient.

Nice location if you don't like to stay directly in the city. We had a car and it was perfect to head towards the beaches and the near mountains.
Bathroom could have been better locked after. It was very clean, but place looked a little bit run down in parts e.g. shower broke because of age. The room itself was perfect.

The place was quite clean, with incredibly attentive and caring staff, and centrally located just a minute walk from Grotta della regina Quarry.

About as good a location as you'll find in Palermo, not an easy city. This is a very nice hotel with lovely garden, patio and pool area located outside of the main city and looking out on the port. The hotel restaurant was much better than expected, and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. On-site parking was thankfully included in the cost.
1) No air conditioning after November 1 (same is true throughout most of Italy; 2) due to location, it is not walkable to get to the old town, or restaurants or other sights in Palermo - taxis are very expensive, but especially at night the choice is to take a taxi or eat in the hotel restaurant; 3) although not outrageously expensive, it is pricey

Very relaxing hotel, breakfast on the terrace is a delight.
The air conditioning didn't work, so to warm at night.
